Waiting

Fall harvest is finally in high gear. October, when it normally starts, was very, very wet. Farmers couldn't get into the fields without getting stuck and the grain was too high in moisture content for the elevator to take it. November brought very mild warm days, so the harvest is on!

There's a constant line of trucks waiting to unload at the elevators.

This was 7:00 pm last night.

Please excuse the bugs on the windshield. It's not wise to stand on the highway at dusk during harvest.

There is little rest at harvest time.

Similar lines of trucks here for the sugar beet harvest. Some farmers continue to harvest late and then park the trucks at the beet dump area for the night so they can be first in line in the morning.

That's interesting to see Mary. And to read Nancy's comment as well. Hope you are having a good afternoon.

Still waiting on beans and corn up here..it has been too wet. I don't blame you for not standing in the road! :)

Glad they're finally able to get into the fields. I can imagine how anxious they've been.
