Kitchen Rug

I finished my first "real" rug today. Earlier, I practiced by making a little table runner size. I've wanted to make new rugs for my kitchen for the last couple of months, but had to put it aside, first, while the house was a wreck getting new flooring, then while I had conjunctivitis in both eyes and my face, then while I had a respiratory infection and lastly for Christmas. This one is in front of the sink. I made it 24" X 64", but now I'm thinking that I made it too long. I'm starting a matching one for in front of the stove, but probably not as long.

I used many yards of neutral colored fabrics that I got in a garage sale box this past summer. Weaving is so much fun. My friends better watch out, they'll all be getting my projects for Christmas next year!

That is beautiful Mary. I have always loved woven rugs and admire your creativity. I am so sorry you've been sick. I knew you had been away but thought it was mainly holiday visiting with your family. Hope you are feeling better and that the new year will hold many blessings for you.

what a great project, I would like to make rugs, I think?, I don't knit or sew, make quilts or embroider napkins, but making rugs seems like it could be something my idle hands could do. can you email me more details of how you made this rug?

forgot - the tile on your floor looks like what we have on the walls of our kitchen - the habit here is to tile the walls in the kitchen and baths... to fight the humidity I think.

My goodness, Mary, the rug turned out great. I'm amazed and in awe of your accomplishment. Sorry to hear you've had so many health problems over the past month or so. Hope you stay well in the weeks ahead.

I have to agree with Far Side... it does rather suck to age and have more health ailments!! Hope you are feeling much better now.

You did a fantastic job with the rug... I am going to look into this. I'm sure it's something I could do in my "spare" (LMAO) time. :)
