SCORE!!!!!

Isn't that what the young women say when they find a great bargain. Between thrift shopping and garage sales this past weekend I came away with a mountain of fabric. Most will probably go to the church for our "Whatever" (Philipians 4:8) craft group baby quilts and projects. There are some large pieces, lots of solids for binding and backs. Also I got a pre-quilted Snoopy panel, so just add binding and some little baby has a new blankie.

This piece I will keep. The colors are much brighter than depicted here. I just love looking at it. What should I do with it? Placemats maybe? Any ideas??

This is all wool. The background piece is 4 yards, the cut pieces are about 6 1/2 by 8 inches. I've been thinking of weaving a rug from wool. Do you have any ideas what to do with the cut pieces? They look like recyled suiting material, maybe. If there is a craft use for these, I could list them on Etsy or Ebay. Better yet, if you can use them, let me know and I'll mail them to you. There's a large stack of them. I also got some similar sized pieces of corduroy and a synthetic suede/ velour. I've been to collecting a variety of corduroy colors to make a bedspread, so those have already been recut and stored away. The velour will be given to a friend who uses it for quilts for her grandsons.

Lastly, the double knit in the "collection" will go to another church who uses it for mission quilts.

Yeah! May these fabrics live happily ever after with renewed purpose.

One down.......

I've semi-diligently worked on this all weekend. The rain has helped to keep me in the house. So maybe I'll get extra credit or something for finishing it before deadline.

GUILTY, GUILTY, GUILTY!!!!

It's time for me to confess. My name is Mary and I am a Craft Starter. I know, it's shameful. I have really hard time finishing something before starting another project. Is there a crafter's ADD?

I went to the local fabric store yesterday to look for fabric for a quilt I had seen on a blog. This was not it! Sure is pretty, isn't it?

My idea here is to expose this fault, in hopes I will be pressured by public opinion to complete something.

This is a runner I started last spring. I am commiting to finishing it before the end of this month.....

Shown here is a little something I worked on about 3 weekends ago after reading a description how to create a bargello. I can't seem to decide how I want to finish it.

This is the rug I took off the loom, just prior to making the loom for the runner. All I need to do is work in the ends and fasten them down.

Whenever I travel with someone else, I take cotton yarn and a pair of needles. I've knitted these dishcloths plus some I've given away since January. I only need to weave in the ends of the yarn.

Okay, I want all 4 of my readers to hold me accountable. (Thanks Mom, daughter and daughter-in-law and Rachel). If I fail, I promise to post a picture of the room these came out of. It is guaranteed to fully humiliate me.

Music Lesson

Riley had birthday number 2 this weekend with a housefule of family and his baby sister's baptism added in for good measure. His great uncle brought a mandolin to sing to the little guest of honor.

Big Brother/ Little Sister

I watched grandchildren this week while their mommy volunteered at band camp. This is Riley having a moment with Mariell.

Family Week

Mariell, Riley and Mcclellan after church on Sunday. Aren't they the cutest? P.S. YES! is the only correct answer.

I just had a wonderful week with both of my kids and their families. I had visions of the little grandsons being crazy about each other, but they were content to play in the same room together. They are pretty young and just 6 months apart, so maybe next time. I am looking forward to the time when they want to spend the night with each other. I try to make my home welcoming and comfortable for guests, but the eastern kids can only visit a couple of times a year. I'll just have to come up with some other enticements. Maybe I need to quit sending their stored stuff home with them every time they come and asking Matt to fix things for me. I sure appreciated it though. He fixed the lights on my tow dolly, dismantled the old satellite dish, and repaired the kitchen faucet.

I planned to take the little boys outside on the patio and play in a washtub full of water, but naps and the 100+ temperatures derailed that plan. I also didn't get as many pictures as I wanted, but there are quite a few new ones on my Photobucket.

We attended the Thresher Show in Bird City. This is Riley after he was cleaned up. He had a great time with all the tractors.

We had our long-awaited dinner at Big Ed's after the show on Saturday. The boys did a wee bit of bonding since they were seated next to one another and NO....Mcclellan did not get to drink beer! The server set it down in front of him and he was really thirsty.
