It sure has been noisy around here. The birds are making such a racket, there's no doubt that spring has sprung. What a wide variety of songs I've been hearing. I wasn't brave enough to lay on the ground and wait for them to congregate above me for a better picture. These two guys didn't fly away like the rest.
The hot topic must be that the mulberry tree will have soon have ripe berries. I took this photo a few days ago.
I read recently, that when the mulberry tree leafed out, it was a sign that the danger of hard frost was past. Have you ever heard that?
The mulberry tree is the tallest tree that I have. It was planted by accident. About 20 years ago,when my son was 10 or 11, my mother-in-law gave him some small trees that she has thinned from her yard. She thought they were all shade trees. He planted them and put in a drip line to water them. Only one tree survived. I am so glad that he planted it outside the fence!

I don't think I've ever seen a mulberry tree. I clicked on it to enlarge it - that's an amazing specimen.
When I step outside early in the mornings, it sounds like I'm in a jungle, with all the bird sounds I hear. I've learned the variety of many of them, but some still elude me.
I've been hearing the birds around my place too! Don't think I've ever even seen a Mulberry tree.
I have many found memories of eating mulberries off the trees in the yard on our farm when I was a kid. Messy but yummy! That is certainly one BIG mulberry tree you have in your yard.

The birds around here are absolutely amazing; all the birdsong I hear everyday makes me smile! There is one bird in particular that makes so many different sounds -- I've watched them do it when they are perched on our fence. One song they sing sounds like they are saying "purdy, purdy, purdy".
Before I lived out there in the country, I never heard so many different and beautiful birds.
Oh, and re: painting our humble lil house... I figure it's the best we can do because we certainly cannot afford a bigger or better house. But we appreciate and love every square inch of our house and our property!
I agree with Dinah on the memories of the mulberry tree. I have two mulberry trees now. I got ambitious and found a recipe for a mulberry pie. The mulberries are going to be thick. Now, if I can just get out there and pick them for the pie....
Al says to take an old sheet, lay it under the tree and shake some of the branches. It's the easiest way to harvest mulberries.
I like going bare footed, so I still get purple feet from walking under the mulberry trees. lol
