Yuk, Gross, Euwwwwwwww!

I am traumatized, shocked, stunned, grossed out. Something happened to me this evening that has never happened before. I was out mowing with my riding mower and ran over a nest of baby bunnies. I saw them, but before I could stop they were sucked up out of their hole. It was just so shocking. I've been complaining about how many rabbits there are this year, but I didn't want to be responsible for thinning them out. I don't know how I've missed doing that before. It's only been about 10 days since I mowed the front yard, but they were pretty big babies.

After I cleaned up the mess, I got back on the mower to finish the yard. Then satan started to work on me and my mind was rehashing every awful thing I've ever done. So there I was mowing in a cloud of dust telling him to get away from me and asking God to ride along.

I'm guessing you don't want to see what I saw, so I'm sparing you the carnage. I decided to find a little beauty in the rest of my task. Here are some pictures of blooms I saw while mowing. Of course, most of them are on undesirable plants. (read weeds) Still, they have a certain beauty.

I hope your day was a pleasant one and I know you are wishing me a dreamless sleep tonight.

Hi there,

I am sure that was a horrible experience! Nonetheless, it happened. Sounds like you know what to do with your thoughts, Phil 4:8 "8For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them]."

God loves you and "There is therefore now no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit."
Romans 8:1

Isn't His word great!

Blessings,

Danielle

I can't tell you how many times this has happened to me on various pieces of farm equipment (windrower, baler, etc.), yet each time I felt just sick about it. Not much can be done when it is the animal's instinct to hunker down and not flee the approaching danger.

The photos are beautiful and make me so homesick for the shortgrass prairies of NW KS. They aren't weeds (unless the yellow one is a dandelion which I love even if they were "introduced" from Europe). They're wildflowers/native plants, and I remember them ALL. Love 'em!

Oh my goodness, what a terrible experience. The flower pictures, however, were lovely and most peaceful.

I have a love-hate relationship with the bunny. When the kids were little they had a rabbit named Bugs. It was litter-trained and a great pet, except for the chewing up of electric cords, newspapers, etc. We let him out in our fenced in back yard and one day a neighbor's dog climbed that fence and got poor Bugs, but he didn't go down without a fight.
Today we live somewhere different and we still have a fenced back yard, but we have 9 dachshunds. There is a family of bunnies living under our summer kitchen and it drives them crazy! Which, in turn, drives us crazy. And those bunnies are eating in our garden. Cute little trouble-makers.....

OMG, that would have absolutely ruined my day. I'm glad hubby does the riding mower work. He always has stories of snakes, and frogs and other wildlife, some lucky to get away, others not so lucky.... I think he would spare me any baby bunny stories because he knows it would upset me.

Lovely pics of the flowers, a peaceful alternative to the other photo. :)

I hate to kill anything, accident or not. When it happens, it can bother me for days.
When John was much, much younger and working in the field, he used to stop the tractor to move animals out of his way. Don't know if he still does that or not.

The cactus flower is one of my favorites. I can remember wanting to pick them when I was a kid.

Hi Mary! So nice of you to stop by my place and leave your sweet comment. I am sorry you had that experience with the rabbit... it was euwwwwwwy!

Last week I noticed a dead bird in the back yard as I was walking the dog. I asked my husband to bury it but it slipped his mind. I have a push lawn mower and, of course, I totally forgot about the bird as I rounded the corner. I sure noticed when I saw the feathers fly and breathed the nasty smell!

Just one of life's little unpleasant moments!

Anyway, I have enjoyed stopping in to meet you!

Kindly, ldh

Hi Mary, I am sorry this happened to you. BUT I somehow in my warped sense of humor found it terribly funny. Then you added all the weed photos..at which time I was reduced to a pile of giggles , which of course brought Far Guy over to see what I found so hilarious.. He read your post and said "Oh my ..poor thing." then when he got to the weed photos he said "I think I see a tiny bunny foot in that one" I had to leave the computer, and pee and compose myself..I thought is was such a wonderful truthful post full of feelings..I really enjoyed it.. Thanks for sharing Mary, by the way, those photos of the weeds are really good:)
