Suggestions?

I'm trying to think of a better way to paint the wall and ceiling above my basement stairway. My husband used to use these planks placed closely together. He was 6' 4" and I'm a foot shorter so I still need some extra reach. (The netting was custom made to keep the little ones from falling through-it will probably be in place until their heads are too big to go between the spindles and yes I noticed the dust.)

I'm thinking, "Hire a professional."

Hire a professional, and make sure he has workers compensation coverage!

We did this same project a year ago. I posted how we did it at http://colbylobrien.wordpress.com/2008/07/25/painting-the-stairwell/ . There is a slideshow that shows how we set up our ladders, secured the boards, etc. It really worked well and was very sturdy. Hope that helps--if I can be of help, let me know.

Hey, better yet! I just talked to my husband about your stairs, and he said that we could bring our ladders and boards and paint it for you, if you'd be willing to buy some Boy Scout popcorn from our boys! How's that for a deal? Let me know if you're interested.

I'd buy a truck load of Boy Scout popcorn from Lois before I would even consider painting that area!

Yup, I would take Lois up on her offer! I am afraid of heights, but you are brave..so you could do it..just be careful. How about a long handled paint roller..relly , really long:)

Oh! We have a high wall over the stairs and somehow GMR painted it while I was gone - I said, please don't do this again!

But, he found some way to do it and it looks great! :)

but hiring someone sure sounds good to me!

I agree with everyone who says you shouldn't try to do it yourself. Either take Lois and her husband up on their offer or hire a professional who (as June said) has a good insurance policy of his/her own.
