Is it better to regret the things you've done or the things you haven't?
I began this blog to chronicle a trip for Habitat for Humanity RV Care-a-vanners for my family. I read about care-a-vanners a few years ago. I mentioned to my husband that it would be fun to go on a build, but he wanted to wait until he retired instead of spending his vacation time working. Sadly, he didn't get to live long enough to retire, but I went on my first build the summer after he died. I was scared to death to get in that motorhome and drive across the mountains and infamous Wolf Creek Pass to work with people I didn't know, doing work I didn't know how to do. I had never done the tank filling and dumping, the leveling, the water and electric hook-ups. All those things RV'ers do. I had to practice everything before I left home so I wouldn't embarass myself. Good thing, too. The first time I emptied the sewage tanks, I dumped them right on my foot. Fortunately, I had filled them with clean water. I now have six 2-week builds under my tool belt.
I have ample regrets for things I've done, but I want my list for the things I haven't to be a short one. I've got one thing down. I wonder what the next one will be. Any ideas?

- I'm a grandmother in my fifties, who likes to travel in an old RV. I started blogging in April of 2008 to chronical a month long trip I took in the motorhome to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. I lost my best friend and husband to cancer in 2005. I began working with the Care-a-vanner's the following summer. I've met some wonderful people, made new friends, visited new places and helped to build 10 houses. I find it difficult to be idle, so when I'm home I volunteer at church, spend time with my grandchildren and work partime for a brokerage firm.

OH regrets..I have a few, I think the ones that for some reason I passed on will stay with me longer.
I think it is awesome that you go on builds! Driving an RV in the mountains..now that is some scary stuff. But you did it!!
I made a bucket list at the beginning of the year, I did get to cross off a ride in a convertible it was awesome! What are some of the other things you want to do?? :)
I just really think you rock. I have told my husband that we need to find something to do with our time. We still have grandkids after school, and will for a few more years, but figure we need to do something.
As for regrets, they all got me to today, and I love where I am today. If there were do overs, might change a few things, but just don't regret much.
I was totally amazed and in awe of your gumption and courage when Kathleen told me you were undertaking your first trip (complete with all its challenges) all on your own for Habitat for Humanity. It took more hutzpah (sp?) than I have. My hat's off to you! One of the things I regret not doing is making it a priority to get back to a major body of water to do some snorkeling which I LOVED the one time (one day only) I tried it when I was with Ben on a business trip in the Bahamas. It was AWESOME. Please keep your readers posted on what you come up with for your "must do" list. Meanwhile, you've inspired me to give some thought to one of my own.
Your experience with the RV reminded me of the movie (I can't remember the name) where Robin Williams takes his family on an trip in a rented RV.
